Four local auto dealers announced today that they will join forces with UVA Community Credit Union to host “Car Wars”, the biggest auto event Charlottesville has seen in over 25 years. Thousands of vehicles will be transported to John Paul Jones Arena for this extraordinary event, scheduled for March 24-27 from 9:00am - 6:00pm with a special private preview on March 23. A portion of the proceeds from every vehicle sold during Car Wars will benefit the United Way—Thomas Jefferson Area, who will have representatives on-hand during the event.

“The United Way is a wonderful organization and a great community resource. It’s a great partnership and we are thrilled to be involved,” said Jamie Schwartz, Director of Marketing for Brown Automotive.

Car Wars is a “friendly” auto dealer battle where four dealers, Brown Automotive, Battlefield Ford, Colonial Auto Center and Jim Price Automotive will be vying for the car-buying public with terrific deals. Thousands of vehicles representing 21 vehicle franchises will be available for immediate delivery. In a statement about the event, the dealerships said, “In our universe, there is a constant battle between good and evil. This is evident in the auto industry where auto retailers slash prices on their huge selection of vehicles and financial institutions lend generous amounts of money to battle the evil forces of the depressed economy. During Car Wars, everyone will be put to the test and good will triumph once again.

Car Wars is designed as a fun event for the entire family. In addition to shopping the huge selection of automobiles, attendees can enjoy prize giveaways, a moon bounce and special appearances from costumed performers including Luke Skywalker, C3PO, Darth Vader and Chewbacca. This is the first time the John Paul Jones Arena has been used as a venue for an auto event of this magnitude. Shoppers from all over Central Virginia have been invited and attendance is expected to be in the thousands.

A private preview will be held March 23 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. for credit union members and other invited guests.
